1. Introduction Ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer deaths among American women, accounting for more deaths than any other cancer arising in the female reproductive system. It is estimated that there will be 21,880 new cases and 13,850 deaths from ovarian cancer in the United States during 2010 [1]. Despite advances in surgical techniques and chemotherapy the overwhelming majority of women diagnosed to have advanced stage ovarian cancer will ultimately develop recurrent disease refractory to therapy and succumb to the disease. Since the introduction of paclitaxel in the 1980s [2-4] there have not been substantial therapeutic advances to the treatment of this disease.
